LTE for Nexus & Google Play edition devices

Compatible devices

The following devices available on Google Play are LTE-compatible:
  • Nexus 5
  • Nexus 7 (2013) LTE
  • HTC One Google Play edition
  • Samsung Galaxy S 4 Google Play edition

LTE networks & coverage

If your mobile data plan includes LTE coverage, your device will always try to connect to LTE. If an LTE network isn't available, your device may use another type of network, such as HSPA/HSPA+ or 3G.
Some devices are only compatible with LTE and won't connect to other types of networks.

Ensure your device is connected to LTE

You can check if your device is connected to LTE in two ways:
  • Signal strength indicator. If your device is connected to LTE, you’ll see the  LTE connectivity indicator at the top of the screen.
The LTE connectivity indicator appears only when your device isn't connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Settings menu. Go to  Settings > About phone > Status > Mobile network type, and see if your device is connected to LTE.

LTE connectivity issues

The following examples can result in LTE connectivity issues:
  • Your current mobile service plan doesn't include LTE coverage.
  • Your SIM card is older and not compatible with LTE.
  • Your SIM card isn't working correctly.
If you experience LTE connectivity or coverage issues, contact your mobile service provider.
