Nexus or Google Play edition device keeps restarting

If your device keeps restarting on its own, you can try the troubleshooting options below. You should also report the issue in the Nexus Forum.

Check For System Updates
Your device may not be running the latest version of Android. To check if your phone or tablet is up to date, follow these steps:
  1. Open your device’s Settings  menu, then scroll down and touch About phone or About tablet > System updates.
  2. If an update needs to be installed, touch Install & download.

Pinpoint Problem apps using Safe Mode
The reboots could be due to issues with a third-party app. To determine if a third-party app is causing the problem, try using safe mode to pinpoint the app.
If a third-party app is causing the problem, uninstall it by following these steps:
  1. Go to your device’s Home screen, then touch All Apps.
  2. Touch & hold the app, then drag it up to "Uninstall."
  3. Touch OK.
You can also alert the app developer of the problem. An email or other contact information is typically available from the app download screen in the Google Play Store app.
